Fund your project with our CII certification
We are the only visual communication agency approved by the French Ministry of Research and Industry.
Benefit from the CII (French innovation tax credit)
Planning to launch an innovative project? You may be eligible for the CII (French innovation tax credit).
IMASCIENCE is recognized by the French Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation as an organization carrying out innovation work on behalf of its clients, for the periods from 2020 to 2029.
What does this mean for you? Any private company that draws on our expertise can obtain a tax deduction on the expenses incurred for research or innovation.
What is the CII? Innovation: a 20% tax deduction
Our activities, recognized by the French Ministry of Research and Industry, allow us to offer original digital solutions aligned with your innovation projects.
Using virtual reality or medical 3D animation, you can enrich and explain your research in a clear, precise way tailored to your different audiences.
Our team of scientific illustrators, with an in-depth knowledge of your sector, maintains a close relationship with you to address your challenges and support you through the CII (French innovation tax credit) process.
Where visual communication meets science
The CIR (research tax credit) and the CII aim to support companies’ research and development (R&D) activities, whatever their sector and size.
Pour qui ?
- Industrial, commercial and agricultural companies, of any legal status
- Subject to corporate income tax or personal income tax
- Falling within the BIC category
- Taxed under the actual profit regime
How is it calculated?
The CII rate is:
- 20% for research and innovation expenses of up to 100 million euros (or 50% in France’s overseas departments and Corsica for expenses incurred in financial years ending on or after 31 December 2019).
How do you benefit from it?
You must complete form 2069-A-SD and send it to your business tax office, attached to your income statement. Since 1 January 2020, you are required to use the EDI-TDFC filing procedure.
Companies that incur scientific research and experimental development expenses can benefit from the CIR and the CII by deducting them from their tax.

An extension of the research tax credit, the CII is a tax measure aimed at small and medium-sized enterprises.
Which SMEs are eligible for the innovation tax credit?
Your company must have fewer than 250 employees, a turnover below 50 million euros (or a balance sheet total below 43 million euros) and must not be part of a large group.
Which expenses are taken into account?
You can claim a tax deduction of up to:
- 20% on expenses related to the design of prototypes and pilot facilities for new products (40% in France’s overseas departments and Corsica for expenses incurred in financial years ending on or after 31 December 2019);
- capped at €400,000 per year and per company.
How do you benefit from the CII?
The declaration is made using the same Cerfa form No. 2069-A-SD and under the same conditions as the research tax credit (CIR). It must be filed with your tax office along with the balance statement if you are subject to corporate income tax, or with the annual income statement for companies subject to personal income tax. You can contact the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research for any further information.
Does your scientific project fall under the research tax credit or the innovation tax credit?
Although they share the similar goal of advancing science and research, the CIR and the CII are not intended for the same innovative company projects. IMASCIENCE’s approval covers the CII (French innovation tax credit): this is the scheme that applies to the services we provide for you.
- If your undertaking is intended to advance the state of the art, i.e. improve scientific and technical knowledge from the very start of your work, it is eligible for the CIR. This is a matter of research and development.
- If you are in the phase of designing or building a prototype or pilot facility for a new product, your project falls under the CII. The aim is technical or technological innovation.
